Fire broke out in a hotel near Lake Balaton – 400 people had to be evacuated
A switch cabinet caught fire on Friday afternoon in a Hévíz hotel, close to Hungary’s famous Lake Balaton. Almost 400 people had to leave the building temporarily.
According to index.hu, the local disaster management agency’s spokesman told them that the fire started in the wellness section of the building. The switch cabinet was burning low, but there was a lot of smoke. Thankfully, firefighters could extinguish the flames quickly.
Nevertheless, 400 people had to leave the building of the hotel complex, including 332 guests and 60 staff members. Zsolt Kósi said nobody got injured, and the hall covered in smoke was cleared with special smoke extractors.
