Budapest among the cheapest European locations for a city break!
The United Kingdom’s Post Office Travel Money conducted an analysis, which found that Budapest, Hungary’s astonishing capital, is among the cheapest European locations for a city break.
According to The Guardian, the survey analysed a dozen typical tourist costs for UK visitors in 20 popular European cities. The calculation included expenses for two nights’ hotel accommodation for a couple, meals, attraction tickets and local transport fares. Interestingly, Athens finished first with only £207 for a weekend trip. The runner-up was Lisbon with £218.
The Greek and Portuguese capitals preceded the traditionally budget-friendly Central and Eastern European cities. Those are Krakow in Poland (£219), Riga in Latvia (£220) and Budapest in Hungary (£221). That means Budapest finished in fifth place in the ranking. The Post Office said it was the first time in 15 years of running its analysis that a city in western Europe (Lisbon) was the cheapest, The Guardian reported.
