Four consuls will help Hungarian football fans today in Leipzig, Germany

Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó ordered four Hungarian consuls in Germany to accompany and aid Hungarian spectators arriving to watch the Hungary-Germany Champions League match in the city, the minister said.

Szijjártó said in a video that the consuls will be working within the Red Bull Arena during the match and will answer the phone to a Hungarian number throughout to help fans “who might get in trouble”, Szijjártó said. The Munich Consulate-General and the Berlin Embassy will be on 24-hour duty, he said.

The Hungarian national team will play the Nationalelf from 8.45pm on Friday.

In June 2021, German police detained 18 Hungarians on the day of a European championship qualifier between Hungary and Germany.
