PHOTOS, VIDEO: Hungary defeated Germany, might win the UEFA Nations League
Marco Rossi, the head coach of the Hungarian football team, said before the match that it would be abnormal to win against the three-time world champion Germany. That is what happened in Leipzig today evening. Thanks to the victory, Hungary might have a chance to win the UEFA Nations League next spring. Here are the details.
A miraculous victory over Germany
According to index.hu, the German journalist reporting about the match said that the Nationalelf consists of world-class players. But as a team, they are not that good. However, everybody expected a Hungarian defeat today in Leipzig, even though Hungary played a draw with Germany in Budapest in July.
Marco Rossi, the head coach of the Hungarian team, called people’s expectations about a victory impossible. However, he added they would do their best to make the Hungarian fans proud. Szalai, the hero
The Hungarian goal was scored by midfielder Ádám Szalai in the 18th minute. Szalai announced this Monday that the match against Italy in the next UEFA Nations League on 26 September will be his last as a national team member. Hungary’s victory might mean a lot. Since Italy defeated England, Hungary needs to defeat Italy next Monday to secure its place in the UEFA Nations League finals. However, there is a chance that the Hungarian football team might win an international football tournament after decades of annoying failures next spring.
