3-Day Hungary Itinerary – A Tour of Budapest
Budapest is gaining popularity as one of central Europe’s most sought-after metropolitan destinations. It’s understandable why Budapest, the capital of Hungary, has become a popular city break destination. Whether tourists seek Old-World grandeur, nightlife, or culture, Budapest can satisfy their needs.
Where should one begin planning a vacation to Budapest? Given everything there is to see, most trips to the city take two or three days, which is not a lot of time. It is advisable to stick to a comprehensive Budapest schedule to make the most of your stay there. By the close of this guide, you should understand what to do in the Hungarian capital in 3 days and be prepared for what is guaranteed to be a fantastic vacation. You’ll learn about all the most iconic sites to visit in Budapest, ensuring that you make the most of your stay.
DAY 1
Visit the magnificent Hungarian Parliament
Hungary’s magnificent Parliament building is regarded as one of the most beautiful structures on the planet for a good reason and is nestled right up against the famous Danube.
You must reserve a tour at least a couple of days in advance if you like to have a look inside the structure. Even if you don’t want to pay, it’s still worth it to visit to see the building up close from the outside.
Visit the Danube Monument
You will see numerous bronze shoes lying on the ground towards the Danube River if you exit the Parliament Building and go down toward the Chain Bridge. These shoes serve as a tribute to those who perished between 1944 and 1945 along Budapest’s Danube River banks, many of whom were Jews.
Victims were made to take off their shoes before being shot and thrown into the Danube River.
An up-close experience at the monument should certainly be more than enough to see and handle in a single day, and the best thing to do would be to go back to your room to rest or unwind at a popular nightclub in the city.
There are a few casinos in the city of Budapest, but the best bet would be to find a good online casino at https://www.gambleonline.co/casino/ to play a game or two as you prepare for yet another fun-filled day.
DAY 2
Start your day at Central Market Hall
A visit to Central Market Hall, one of our favorite Budapest attractions, is a must on any itinerary. Even if you like shopping at many different markets, this one is exceptionally huge and lovely.
A nice spot to get some Hungarian paprika to take home is on the bottom level, which is where the grocery store is located.
Souvenirs are located on the second level, but the prepared meals area is where the real action takes place. Try Hungarian langos for sure! Nowadays, they are served in just about every conceivable form, but for your first taste, stick with the classics: fried bread, sour cream, and cheese.
Check out the Cave Church
The Cave Church is located almost right across the street from the Liberty Bridge. It is, as the name implies, a church built within a cave.
The church is unusual in appearance and provides for a highly intriguing visit on any Budapest itinerary since it is practically located within Gellert Hill. There is also a ton of history in this place, including that of World War II and Hungary’s Communist era.
Unwind your day at the Gellért Baths
What could beat the luxurious thermal baths in a building that gives you the impression that Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby are ready to walk through the door any second?
Even without spending on a treatment, you can easily spend hours admiring the architecture within the Gellért Baths.
Although the outside area of the baths is more akin to a communal poos than anything else, you can also opt to stay inside.
DAY 3
Explore the cave system of Budapest
One of the best things to do in Budapest is climbing and crawling into some of the city’s caverns, even if it may not be the most conventional form of touring.
Adventurous visitors will like the chance to explore these caverns. Even with just three days in Budapest, it merits a spot on the itinerary.
There are guided tours offered in the more accessible areas of the cave system if you want to see the caverns but don’t believe an extreme adventure trip is for you.
A visit to the Szabó Ervin Library
This library is a bit of a detour from the other locations planned for the day, but if you enjoy reading, it is well worth the trip.
The Szabó Ervin Library’s fourth level is home to several breathtaking chambers that will fill you with delight.
If you spent your childhood fantasizing about owning thousands of books or creating your own version of Belle’s library from Beauty and the Beast, then… It is in Budapest, and entrance costs merely a few forints.
