Organiser of Orbán’s peace march would start an EU-USA war

András Bencsik, the editor-in-chief of the Demokrata, a Hungarian conservative weekly, compared the Baltic Sea pipeline leaks to Pearl Harbor, the assassination of Habsburg heir Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo or the bombing of Kassa/Kosice.

Mr Bencsik referred to a recent insinuation of the former Polish foreign affairs minister Radoslaw Sikorski. The European Parliament member suggested that the US had deliberately inflicted damage on the Nord Stream gas pipeline. 

“We call that a declaration of war. The United States of America attacked the European Union”, Bencsik said. Bencsik highlighted that the European Union did not have an army but should enter into war against America. “This was not friendly fire. That was an evil sabotage operation carried out professionally”, Bencsik said. The aim was to make pipelines coming from Russia to Europe inoperable.

Bencsik talked about the issue at the government-close Hír TV. 

Szeretlek Magyarország reminded us that the pipelines of Nord Stream 1 and 2 did not work. The former was shut by the Russians, while the latter never opened. Furthermore, CNN said, quoting intelligence service sources, that two ships of the Russian fleet had been sighted this Monday and Tuesday around that section of the Baltic sea where the leaks happened.

András Bencsik is one of the organisers of Fidesz’s annual peace marches, where PM Viktor Orbán regularly holds speeches.
