More than 9 million passengers passed through Budapest International Airport in 2022
Liszt Ferenc Airport registered more than 1 million passengers in September. The cargo volume exceeded 15,000 tonnes. In total, more than 9 million passengers have passed through Budapest Airport in 2022.
Precisely, 1,185,462 passengers were registered at the Hungarian capital airport in September. This is 22 percent below the same month back in 2019. In the first three quarters of the year, a total of 9,060,752 arrivals and departures were recorded at Liszt Ferenc Airport. This is 75 percent of the passenger traffic recorded in the first 9 months of the record year of 2019, before the pandemic.
The volume of goods handled at the airport in September was estimated at 15,000 tonnes. It was achieved despite the fact that there were fewer flights between China and Budapest than before.
In total, more than 16 million passengers visited the Hungarian airport in the record year of 2019. However, the coronavirus outbreak took a serious toll on travel. Airports are now trying to return to the pre-pandemic traffic levels, airportal.hu reports.
