Here is a labour-related statistic in which Hungary ranks well

According to the latest Eurostat statistics, Hungary is doing very well in terms of unemployment, but in Southern Europe there were 23 regions in 2021 where at least 30 percent of the population aged 15-29 were unemployed.

Hungary leads in one statistic

Eurostat has published its latest statistics. This time, they analysed the unemployment rate in European countries. According to the data available, the lowest youth unemployment rate in 2021 was recorded in the Eastern regions of the EU. The Czech Republic had very low unemployment in 4 regions and Poland in 1 region. In the Czech Republic, the unemployment rate for young people aged 15-29 was 3.7 percent in Jihozápad and 4 percent in Poland’s Wielkopolskie region.

In Hungary, unemployment rates were below 5 percent in 3 regions. West Transdanubia leads with 4.5 percent, Budapest with 4.8 percent and Central Transdanubia with 4.9 percent.

The other regions of Hungary also performed well, with unemployment rates of 6.7 percent in Pest county, 8 percent in South Great Plain and 9.2 percent in South Transdanubia, while the worst performers were North Hungary and North Great Plain (12 percent and 14.9 percent respectively).

Unemployment down across Europe

The unemployment rate for young people aged 15-29 in the EU fell from 13.3 percent in 2020 to 13 percent in 2021, according to data released by hvg.hu.

The worst performer was Southern Europe. There were 23 regions where 30 percent or more of the workforce aged 15-29 were unemployed. There were also 6 regions with unemployment rates of over 40 percent. Two in Spain (Ceuta 56 percent and Melilla 41.9 percent), two in Greece (East Macedonia 45.1 percent and West Macedonia 42.3 percent) and one in France and Italy (Mayotte 43 percent and Sicily 40.1 percent).
