EP committe mission to be “one sided”?
The programme of an upcoming vis1t by the European Parliament’s committee for culture and education (CULT) to Hungary has “turned out to be one-sided”, Tamás Deutsch, MEP of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz, said on Wednesday and suggested that the committee had dismissed his party’s recommendations.
Fidesz MEP Andrea Bocskor and others had “recommended a number of institutions and people” for the committee to contact while in Hungary but they “neglected the most fundamental expectations of impartiality and variety”, Deutsch insisted in a letter to Sabine Verheyen, the head of the committee.
Deutsch said the programme was imbalanced, giving a disproportionately large focus to “opposition, leftist or liberal politicians, activists, institutions, journalists and civil organisations critical of the government”. A fact finding mission, however, should “examine the relevant issued from several sides”, he added. While the programme includes meetings with “some two dozen militant anti-government” figures, the delegation will “meet only a few government players”, in “complete disregard of the rightist, bourgeois, national, conservative and Christian Democratic workshops”, he said, adding that the mission therefore would not get a “credible, objective and complete view of (Hungary’s) reality”.
“The way the programme was made reinforces the suspicion that its one-sided character had not been caused by a lack of prudence but by a deliberate political intent,” Deutsch said.

By disproportionate they mean 50-50. FIDESZ want them to talk only the people that they themselves nominated.
It gets so tedious to hear the same old bleatings from Fidesz. Always whinging. Can’t believe they think we fall for their constant rhetorical rantings. How about they put it in another pointless ‘national consultation’.
I’m sure Mr. Deutsch has a choice line or two for these people, (“one sided”, “not reflecting Hungarian reality”, etc.), too:

But there we are. Stuck at number 73 out of 140 of the WJP Rule of Law Index!
Of course – you can meet people from the “official list” – or just refer to propaganda. Probably the same “error” the World Justice Project made
Funny Fidesz should refer to the program as “one sided” when what Fidesz really wants is for it to be completely one sided — the Fidesz side.
It’s funny to see Fidesz refer to the program as one sided when in reality what they desire is a truly one-sided program of all Fidesz approved participants.
This is a joke. The report already make. Who are the members of this group, probably Hungary hating Dutch. Were the members’ views in the past have been vetted to show that they are neutral? Are there any member that come from V4?
This committee is just there to enjoy food and alcoholic drinks and stay warm in a country. They should just stay home.
