Cheap flights available again from Budapest – here is the trick

The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air unintentionally reintroduced an old, almost forgotten ticket price category. Furthermore, you have to pay less for several tickets because of the strengthening of the Hungarian forint.

Wizz Air, Hungary’s market leader budget carrier, does the pricing in euros, but the exchange rate was disadvantageous before. It almost reached 450 HUF/EUR even though the official threshold was never above 430. Today they exchange forint to euro for HUF 400, so their tickets became cheaper in forint.

Furthermore, before, their lowest ticket price category was 14.99 EUR. But currently, those flights are calculated with a 9.99 price, if Budapest is the place of departure and you pay in forint. The destinations include Brussels, Milan, Thessaloniki (Greece), Rome, Göteborg (Sweden) and Malmö (Sweden). In the case of return tickets, the price is 14.99 EUR, but you only have to pay HUF 4,040 (EUR 9.99) if you take off in Budapest.
