This is what Hungarians want for Christmas this year

According to Hungarians, money cannot be a Christmas present, at least this year. This Christmas, they would most like to see household appliances and electronic products under the tree.

People will spend less this Christmas

One in ten Hungarians would spend a maximum of HUF 10,000 (EUR 24.6) on a Christmas gift. Meanwhile, more than a quarter of them would spend between HUF 10,000 and HUF 30,000 (EUR 73.7), napi.hu writes. However, in the region (e.g. Czechia and Slovakia), these proportions are reversed: they would prefer to spend between HUF 40,000 (EUR 98.27) and 60,000 (EUR 147.4). In Hungary, only one in ten consumers can afford that. This was revealed by Árukereső.hu’s Christmas research this year.

Almost half of respondents plan to spend at a similar level to last year. This highlights two important points: despite the economic situation, more people are planning to keep Christmas presents this year. However, this amount is slightly less this year when adjusted for inflation.

People gift less relatives

Half of those surveyed want to cut their Christmas costs by using price promotions, and 20 percent plan to buy presents for fewer relatives. This year, most people are expecting only 3-6 relatives or friends, compared to 7 last year.

While 86 percent of Slovaks, 84 percent of Croats and around 70 percent of Czechs, Serbs and Slovaks take advantage of Black Friday and similar sales, only one in two people in our country actively take advantage of these opportunities, napi.hu reports. If not specifically because of promotions, more than half of Hungarians start Christmas shopping before December, and a significant number (40 percent) of Hungarians have been collecting gift ideas all year.

People want coffee machines and electronics

Hungarians clearly want household appliances and electronic goods the most. Beyond that, here are what they also enjoy getting:

• clothes;
• coffee machine;
• a laptop;
• a smartphone;
• a watch;
• book;
• perfume.
