Budapest public transport to change drastically in end-December

Change language:
Budapest’s public transport will change significantly between 24 December and 2 January because of the festivities. The Budapest Transport Company (BKK) listed everything you should know about the changes concerning almost every resident and tourist.
According to portfolio.hu, BKK will adapt its timetable to the changing needs of the commuters between 24 December and early January. Therefore, the last “regular” buses, trams, trolleybuses, etc., will depart between 3 and 3 pm on 24 December, when Hungarians celebrate Christmas Eve.
On 22 and 23 December, the school holiday timetable will be in effect. After 3-4 pm on Saturday, public transport will operate according to the night timetable. On 25 and 26 December, Budapest’s public transport will be in a festive service. Between the two main festivities, from 27 until 31 December, BKK will follow the school holiday timetable.
On New Year’s Eve, all buses will commute more frequently. Furthermore, metro lines M1, M2, M4 and M3 between Kőbánya-Kispest and Kálvin Square will operate all night just like tram lines 4 and 6 and the suburban railway HÉV connecting Gödöllő, Szigetszentmiklós, Ráckeve and Csepel with Budapest.
