PHOTOS: Budapest welcomes a beautiful new park soon

Following the World Athletics Championship this year, Budapest’s newest green park will be created on the site of the National Athletics Centre.

The complex, which is being built by ZÁÉV and Magyar Építő, will be transformed after the World Championship, Magyar Építők reports. The temporary stands will be demolished and replaced by a running track, walking path and outdoor gym. In addition, a cycle path to Csepel will be opened as part of the Centre.

Opportunities for the public to play sports

“This world-class facility is being built at the gateway to Csepel, which is much more than a competition centre, it will provide a great opportunity for the residents of the area to relax after the World Championship. We are particularly pleased that the project will also include a cycle path and a new pedestrian bridge along the banks of the Danube to Csepel,”

a statement from the State Secretariat for Sport of the Ministry of Defence quoted Szilárd Németh as saying.
