Budapest ranked 7th best cultural destination in the world by Tripadvisor
Tripadvisor, the world’s most visited travel site, has published its list of the best destinations. Every year, they receive millions of reviews and over the last 12 months, Budapest has been one of the top 10 cultural destinations.
According to Sarah Firschein, head of Tripadvisor’s editorial team, travel demand has grown significantly in 2022 and a similar trend can be expected this year.
“We’ve also seen a resurgence in intercontinental travel, with many Americans planning to travel to Asia and the Pacific again after years away. At the same time, big cities like Paris and London, which were less popular during the pandemic, are back on travellers’ wish lists, as are special places like Alaska and Cuba.”
This year, the best destinations have been announced in six categories: Popular Destinations, Trendy Destinations, Best Gastronomic Destinations, Best Ski Resorts, Best Natural Places and Best Cultural Destinations.
The most popular destination was Dubai and the most trendy destination was Cuba. For gastronomy, Rome was the best, while Whistler in Canada was the top ski resort. Nature Destination was announced for the first time this year and Mauritius won.
Fez, Morocco, topped the list of the best consumer destinations. The Hungarian capital Budapest came in 7th place.
“More than 15 million gallons of water bubble up from 118 springs and wells in Budapest. The City of Baths offers visitors a fascinating variety of baths, from the gleaming Gellért Baths to the neo-baroque Széchenyi, built in 1913, to the 16th century Rudas…”
According to the editors, a night-time historical and vampire walk in Buda Castle and a night-time boat tour of the Hungarian capital are also unmissable, turizmus.com writes.
