Indian women undergo training to become truck drivers in Hungary
Soon, Indian women will be delivering electronics and other packages all over Europe, including Hungary.
Index.hu spotted the news on trans.info that Baton Transport Hungary, a subsidiary of the Danish Baton Transport, is specifically looking for female employees in India. The transport company is training them to work as truck drivers in Europe.
“Trucking for Equality”
The company held a press conference in India last week to present its “Trucking for Equality” programme. In the first phase of the project, 25 women will be recruited in India. These women will be employed by the Hungarian subsidiary and will work as truck drivers across Europe. According to Claus Normann Hansen, CEO of the Danish company Baton Transport, the project is aimed at supporting women in India. If the first phase is successful, another 800 women will be recruited in the next five years.
Although the pilot project will last only six months, the candidates will be offered a two-year contract with the possibility of extension in the future. However, during the 6-month pilot, they will also have the right to quit sooner if they want.
High salaries are offered
According to The Times of India, there are only two requirements to apply for the job. The post is subject to basic school education and English knowledge.
The training will be conducted in India for the recruited employees. Then they will go to work in Hungary, however, their families will not be allowed to relocate instantly. Hansen believes that this will lead to a high attrition rate. However, once they have received their residence card, their families can follow them to Hungary.
At the press conference, it was announced that Indian women will earn INR 160,000. This is roughly equivalent to EUR 1,800. The CEO stressed that a Hungarian truck driver receives the same amount of money for the same workload. For this salary, successful candidates will have to work 5 days a week and 15 hours a day. They will have to spend a total of 2 x 4.5 hours behind the wheel per day, as reported by The Times of India.
Trans.info contacted the CEO of the company to find out the reason why the Hungarian subsidiary in particular was chosen. Hansen explained that the subsidiary had already been looking for truck drivers in India with the help of the Hungarian company Bányai & Partners Consulting.

This is outrageous, on so many levels. There are so, so many unemployed Europeans, especially among the young. Most of the illegal migrants imported by Merkel, as well as those still pouring in across the Mediterranean daily, are jobless. There are E.U. candidate countries (Albania and North Macedonia, even Serbia and Bosnia), also with high unemployment. It’s very clear who those behind this scheme, and those who approved it, are working for. (HINT: It ain’t the people of Europe, that for sure!)
