PHOTOS: The glamorous man-eater Zsa Zsa Gábor and her 9 husbands
Born 106 years ago, Zsazsa Gábor with her cheeky outrageous comments and larger-than-life personality was the most talked about celebrity of Hungarian origin in the US press. We can legit say, not even the Kardashian sisters would have made such fame as the Hungarian bombshell did in her era. Her whirlwind romances and 9 marriages raised many eyebrows back in the day, but the free-spirited Hungarian actress and socialite couldn’t give a damn. She enjoyed life at its fullest and nothing stopped her from chasing that burning all-consuming love only seen on the big screen, which she claimed to have finally found with her 9th husband at age of 69. In this post, we take a look at Zsazsa’s impressive collection of wealthy and successful lovers.
Burhan Belge, Turkish diplomat (1937-1941)
The daughter of a Jewish jeweller never played small. Her very first catch at the young of 18 was right away a diplomat who allegedly swept the Hungarian beauty off her feet by buying her a puppy she had longed for quite some time. Despite not speaking a common language, the pair quickly tied the knot and stayed married until 1941. Interestingly, Zsazsa claimed that they had never consummated their love although Belge had a pretty perverted mind, according to the actress.
Conrad Hilton, hotel tycoon (1942-1947)
Although the Gábor sisters consumed 19 husbands in total, only Zsazsa bore a child. The Hungarian actress who was never afraid to speak her mind, even decades before the widespread “Me Too” movement, claimed that her second husband brutally raped her that’s when her daughter, Francesca Hilton was conceived. Even though she was born into fame and wealth, the only successor of Zsazsa Gábor died penniless. She was even living on the street for some time as a homeless person.
George Sandards, Oscar-winner actor (1949-1954)
Zsazsa Gábor didn’t waste much time after her second divorce. This time she looked for her next lover closer to home, in the movie industry. The handsome British actor couldn’t keep his eyes off the Hungarian beauty when they first met behind the scene. The engagement period barely lasted a day, the two love birds vowed eternal fidelity to one another in Las Vegas which Zsazsa devotedly stuck to until a Dominican playboy named Porfirio Rubirosa, whom she happened to madly fall in lust with, disrupted the idyll. To make up for the heartbreak, Zsazsa made a pact with her older sister and matched her up with her ex-husband. However, their marriage only lasted 6 weeks.

Herbert L. Hutner, investment banker (1962-1966)
Zsazsa never shied away from expressing her intense attraction to the richest elite, even to the press. Her legendary saying became timeless advice for many young girls who sought a wealthy husband: “No man can be considered ugly as long as he has a couple of millions on his account”. Apparently, that’s how Hutner came into the picture after two short yet passionate high-profile flings with the above-mentioned Dominican diplomat, who happened to be married at that time, and a wealthy Los Angeles-based contractor. Zsazsa quickly got bored of monogamy though and continued her quest to find her ultimate soulmate.
Joshua S. Cosden Jr., “the Prince of Petroleum” (1966-1967)
In her typical fashion, Zsazsa didn’t spend much time crying into her pillow after her 4th divorce. She quickly bagged herself a wealthy entrepreneur who happened to be an oil tycoon. The pair first crossed each other’s path at a party and six weeks later they were husband and wife. Although the marriage only lasted a year and the reason for their separation wasn’t publicly known, one thing is certain: Zsazsa must have kept all the generous gifts she received from the Texas oilman regardless of whether there were any hard feelings between them. As she liked to put it: “I never hated a man enough to give him his diamonds back.”
Jack Ryan, American designer (1975-1976)
After a 5-year dry spell, Zsazsa Gábor felt ready to get back into the dating game. After all, “a girl must marry for love, and keep on marrying until she finds it”, as she would famously say. The Hungarian femme fatale’s 5th husband is known for co-designing the famous Barbie Doll. Knowing this snippet of information, one may wonder whether the features of the doll were portrayed after Zsazsa. The sultry doe eyes and the tiny nose could definitely be telltale signs.
Michael O’Hara, lawyer (1976-1983)
This time, Zsazsa Gábor was well-prepared and determined not to stay single for too long. It didn’t take three days following her divorce from Ryan and the Hungarian heartthrob walked down the aisle again to vow eternal love to a successful Beverly Hills lawyer. It isn’t difficult to figure out that O’Hara must have been already in the picture while Zsazsa was still officially married to her previous hubby.
Felipe de Alba, attorney (1983-1983)
Although the most-talked-about celebrity of Old Hollywood was known for her impulsive decisions and extremely brief marriages, the story with her Mexican lover, who also worked as a character actor starring in Buñuel’s ‘54 Robinson Crusoe, was next level. The wedding was declared invalid within 24 hours as her prior marriage to O’Hara wasn’t properly dissolved. According to BuzzFeed News, the pair didn’t stay together after their short union.
Prince Frederic von Anhalt, businessman (1986 – her death)
The controversial marriage was deemed by many a simple business deal. The 20 years gap between the aging actress and the flamboyant German socialite raised many eyebrows, including Zsazsa’s mother’s and sister’s, who tried to boycott the wedding. Still, their marriage proved to be the blond icon’s longest-lasting. Von Hault stayed by her side for 25 years until Zsazsa’s death. Later though, the press dug up some shady stories about the widower who eventually admitted that he bought his royal title and made his wealth through sham marriages and selling off knighthoods.
