PHOTOS, VIDEO: Budapest’s “skyscraper” opened for visitors, here are the prices
Hungarian oil and gas company MOL opened a visitor centre and an observation deck in its new high-rise headquarters to the public from Friday.
The observation deck, on the top floor of the 28-storey MOL Campus HQ, can be reached by a glass elevator from the visitor centre on the ground floor. Entry to the visitor centre is free of charge. Tickets for the observation deck may be purchased online. MOL laid the cornerstone of the HQ in October 2018 and topped out the structure in August 2021. It was inaugurated in December 2022.
The building was designed by London’s Foster+Partners in collaboration with Hungary’s Finta Studio. Berlin-based Kinzo and Hungarian partner Minusplus were in charge of interior design. The general contractor was Market Építő. Around 2,500 people work in the 86,000 sqm building, MTI wrote.
The price of the adult ticket is HUF 2,900 (EUR 7.7). Meanwhile, kids under six and disabled people can visit the headquarters for free. For students, people above 60, families and in the case of groups, the company provides price reductions, 24.hu wrote. However, it is useful to note that you cannot buy a ticket at the headquarters. The only option for that is online, on the website of MOL Campus HERE. The good news is that you may use the English version. And the panorama from above is breathtaking.

Broke my heart the other day when I looked down the Danube from Margit bridge and I saw this eyesore. In another setting, it would be a mediocre building of the 21st century. Where it stands, it’s a shame. Ego driven crap like this ruins it for the rest of us.
So, you can view the beautiful part of Budapest from the 28th floor, for about €8. Sky Garden in London is free, located on the 34th floor. Skip this place and head over to the Citadel, or the castle, or Fisherman’s Bastion, all for free and offering excellent views. Just don’t look too far to your right while scanning the beautiful horizon from these iconic locations, you might notice this blight.
Lets call this The Blue Shoe. Reminds me of a children’s story, There was an old woman who lived in a shoe…..
Oil companies egos alright.
If the building was separated from the background, and silhouetted, and the resulting picture shown to a group of people to have a guess at what it looks like (as in a Rorschach test) I would bet my last filler that the majority would say that’s it’s a penis. 🙂 😀
Of course, MOL isn’t the only oil company with such big “egos” 😉 😀 to show off. 🙂 😀
