Great news for travellers: fuel prices could fall sharply on Friday
On Friday, domestic fuel prices will drop significantly again, Holtankoljak.hu reported. They said that as the wholesale prices of petrol and diesel will also decrease (by 10 forints gross and 18 forints gross respectively), this is expected to be reflected in retail prices.
If this price change is reflected in retail prices the price of 95 petrol could fall from the current 580 to 570 forints, while the price of diesel could fall from the current level of 567 to 549 forints per litre.
In its forecast last week, the trade portal said there was a chance of a fall in domestic fuel prices at the wells, because although the price of Brent oil per barrel had fallen by only half a dollar in a week, the forint was still able to strengthen against the dollar.
At the same time, the impact of the sanctions – or the reduction in oil supply – that will come into force from May onwards on oil prices in the short term was questionable.
