Fidesz: Attacks on Poland are constant
“I reject the constant attacks against Poland and demand more respect for Polish voters,” Balázs Hidvéghi, MEP of Hungary’s ruling Fidesz said in a plenary session of the European Parliament on the rule of law in Poland, on Wednesday.
The MEP spoke Polish in the first part of his address and said “the Polish are a proud, confident, and successful nation, who can walk its own way without constant lecturing from the West.”
Hidvéghi suggested that MEPs of Poland’s Civic Platform were behind recent “attacks” and said “you are mistaken when you think that if you cannot win elections at home … here in Strasbourg and Brussels you can attack your own country and countrymen in cooperation with all kinds of radical leftists.”
He called on the Polish opposition to “stop attacking your own countrymen … it is not right!”

Poland were our Politicians’ BFFs at one point. Mr. Putin’s war in Ukraine, Poland’s justified fear of Russia and our Politicians “let’s just stand on the sidelines” approach changed all of that.
Let’s tell them we really love them and see if that helps?
The E.U. is ultimately a giant bully, just like every narcissistic megalomanic. All their self-professed, boastful pledges of “tolerance” and “diversity” count for jack if you don’t toe the line. You’re free to be yourself, so long as being yourself is something we approve of. Pathetic. Seriously, what’s the difference between the E.U. and the U.S.S.R. or even the American glabal hegemony?
That was meant to say “global” in the last line.
@michaelsteiner – the EU was founded basically as a trading block, binding their Members through economic interdependence. This way, nobody can go back to “the old ways” – e.g. all the wars on the European continent of old. I am sure you will agree the history of violence was absolutely atrocious through WW2.
After WW2, certain Western European nations decided co-dependence was the way to avert war – the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) was born in 1951. The ECSC formed the blueprint of the The European Economic Community (EEC) of 1957. This eventually led to the European Union (“economic” was dropped for a reason – the EU is so much more that that – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_pillars_of_the_European_Union – this was eventually integrated but adds context).
I encourage people to read this Wiki- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Economic_Community . It may sound superfluous, however it is so important to understand how the EU came into being and what we willingly signed up for in 2004 .
Our dear Politicians keep on wanting to pick and choose, however this institution has been years in the making and lots of countries have been investing time and effort for many decades before we ever acceded.
If we disagree with the premises, we can always leave and go back to the “old ways” – “Nation First”! And we just found out how dependent we are, right (Russian oil and gas, anyone? The EU warned us, years before Putin’s war – our Politicians did absolutely nothing).
