Large brown bear spotted in Hungary – VIDEO
There were two sightings of brown bears in the Bükk National Park in Hungary last week.
According to the Bükk National Park, a camera trap operated by the Park Authority recorded a very large brown bear on 24 July 2023. The video of the animal is available on the Hungarian National Park’s youtube channel.
The other observation relates to a report from a member of the public. On 29 July, hikers spotted a bear on the border of Szilvásvárad in the national park.
“We regret to see that recently a lot of information about brown bears has appeared in the written press and social media, based on assumptions and not reflecting the facts. For more than a year, we have been finding signs of life that testify to the continuous presence of the brown bear in the beech, but since then, forest visitors have not reported any direct encounters with the animal, which clearly proves that the bear avoids human proximity,” reports the Bükk National Park.
Sokszinuvidek.24.hu reminds anyone who spots a brown bear to contact the National Park Authority, which will investigate all sightings.
