Everybody adores this new Budapest hotel
Hotel Oktogon is one of the newest luxury hotels in Budapest, located on Hungary’s prestigious Andrássy Avenue, the Hungarian Champs Elysées in the city’s heart. After winning multiple awards, they won the BigSEE international architectural and design competition, the Tourism Design 2023. As a result, they may win the first prize.
According to turizmus.com, a Hungarian tourism news outlet, several prestigious international magazines, including Design Street Milan, Italian BuildNews and the ArchiPortal raved about Hotel Oktogon. The place opened in June 2022. It is in a Neo-Renaissance palace on Andrássy Avenue, built between 1884 and 1886. Its designer was Henrik Schmahl (Párisi Udvar, Uránia National Movie Theatre). Meanwhile, the money was provided by a Hungarian-born Swiss mill owner and beer factory founder, Henrik Haggenmacher.
Later, the palace became a public library, then a popular bar operated inside. After that, it was renewed; the project lasted three years. The hotel’s operator is the Continental Group, and its designer was este’r partners and Archikon.

Italians especially adore this new hotel
The luxury palace lives on in its original character. Behind the representative gate, you may enter the inside garden, where you can find the lobby and breakfast place. The roof of the corridors regained their original beauty, while the hotel interior remained casual, following the style and needs of the guests.
Italian newspapers and experts adore the new luxury hotel. Eszter Radnóczy, the founder of the Italian-Hungarian este’r partners, highlighted that Italians like the meeting and creative harmonisation of old and new, the colours and life.
