Elon Musk says he fully agrees with Viktor Orbán
Viktor Orbán expressed his views on the new European Parliament law on X. And Elon Musk expressed his agreement in a comment.
New law
The European Union could soon pass a law that will promote media pluralism and press freedom in Member States in an unprecedented way. On Tuesday, the European Parliament adopted by a large majority the European Media Freedom Act, which was then presented by Vera Jourová, the EU Commissioner for Values and Transparency, index.hu reports.
The Hungarian government led by Viktor Orbán is concerned about the bill. The Hungarian prime minister expressed his views on the social media platform X, which used to be Twitter.
PM Viktor Orbán and Elon Musk react
“Another anti-freedom proposal from Brussels: establishing total control over the media. We Central Europeans have seen such things in the past. They called it the Kominform and the Reichspressekammer. Never again!” writes PM Orbán.
The Hungarian prime minister was referring to the institutions of the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. The post won Elon Musk’s approval. The billionaire replied in a comment: “Abolutely.”
Vera Jourová first reacted with a laughing emoji and then added “More seriously, Mr Musk, which part of the law are you concerned about? My DMs are open for you.”
Musk is improving his relationship with the Hungarian government. President Katalin Novák had a long conversation with the billionaire during her visit to the US last week.

Promoting media freedom is “anti-freedom” and having media freedom is somehow “total control over the media”??
Is this guy on drugs, or maybe just concerned about losing his grip on the mainstream media in Hungary? Would love to hear some fact based opinions from Orban instead of vague references to dictators of the past.
#FideszMediaControl
IT is so rich that Mr. Christian Values is hanging with Elon Musk, a serial child maker with various women to whom he is not married. Same with Madam Christain Values, our President. They want to tell everyone how to live their lives, but get very quiet around Musk. Hypocracy at its best.
Of course Orban is against it. Fidesz has control over most of Hungary’s media. Anyone who comes up against it is closed down.
Two billionaires… one is open, the other in the closet. Friends need friends.
Free press doesn’t exist in Hungary. A little bla bla is okay but don’t get carried away.
The above comment claims that Fidesz controls most of Hungary’s media. That is a lie. Unfortunately, most media in print and online is clearly leftist oriented and many are owned by German and Soros interests. Anyone with half a brain and a little curiosity can see for themselves.
90 % of western media is controlled by the left. Other Europe countries are funding
Just to be clear Elon had 5 kids by his first wife – he set up a private school so they could get a great education.
If had 2 billion for every kid, I would have tons.
Exactly!
The media in EU is almost totally dominated by green-left, the same is also true in Hungary. Anybody who can either read of at least use google translator can notice it pretty much immediately. That “paper media” is dying in pretty much most countries is another issue, it is simply economic reality.
The situation is specifically bad in in Northern countries, indeed .e.g. Finland has only two tv stations providing news – one owned by Finnish state (notoriously left wing) and the other one controlled by Swedish state. There is no “free from government” news at all (no ATV, no RTL no nothing). Germany has even two state media company, both totally run by left-green.
How many you have even read the media law from EU? Any of you noticed how EU wants more and more “fact checkers” to be able to block any material?
Fidesz trolls leaving comments here with usual nonsense without any source for their facts. Especially “tomas” could really use a fact checker… Two TV-stations provide news in Finland? Five second googling tells you that there are four TV-channels delivering news in Finland and none is controlled by Swedish state. Source: Wikipedia. (If you think wikipedia is wrong, dear tomas, then go and correct their article with your facts and don´t forget to include source citations so your facts wont be rejected).
