Hungary to switch to summer time on Sunday
Budapest, March 26 (MTI) – Daylight saving time will begin in Hungary on Sunday, March 30, with clocks going forward an hour at 2 am.
The EU-standard change will slightly affect railway and Budapest public transport timetables.
The change will not affect international flights at the Budapest Liszt Ferenc airport.
Hungary adopted the daylight saving system back in 1980. Under a 1996 government decree, summer time begins on the last Sunday of March and ends on the last Sunday of October. Hungary has saved around 4,000 GWh worth of energy since the system’s adoption, an equivalent of about a five-week average consumption.
