Irish Black Comedy Calvary To Open Hungary Titanic Film Festival
Budapest, March 27 (MTI) – The recent Irish black comedy drama Calvary will open Hungary’s 21st Titanic International Film Festival on April 4.
The festival will feature 52 titles from 25 countries in seven categories. Nine films from Norway, Sweden, France, Iceland, Turkey, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile and the US will be in competition for the Breaking Waves main prize.
Turkish director Alphan Eseli and Bulgarian counterpart Maya Vitkova will attend the festival. The international jury will be presided by multi-award winning Hungarian filmmaker Janos Szasz.
The festival will show Cambodian Rithy Panh’s documentary The Missing Picture about atrocities Khmer Rouge committed between 1975 and 1979. It will also screen US director A. J. Edwards’ The Better Angels about the childhood of future president Abraham Lincoln and the French political comedy Jacky in the Kingdom of Women.
Titanic will close with Jim Jarmusch’s vampire story Only Lovers Left Alive featuring Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddlestone on April 12.
