PHOTOS: Lake Balaton overflowed, several shops flooded
Due to the strong winds from the south, Lake Balaton flooded on Thursday, inundating several shops on the Tagore promenade and the beach. The Balatonfüred Municipal Fire Brigade (Balatonfüredi Önkormányzati Tűzoltóság) used pumps and sandbags to stop the flow of water.
The mayor of Balatonfüred, István Bóka, also reported about the situation on his Facebook page, Telex reports. He wrote that the firefighters of Balatonfüred have started the necessary measures with the staff of the town’s municipal management company and are in constant contact with the affected people.

István Bóka’s Facebook post:
“Due to the strong winds from the south, the water of Lake Balaton threatened the shops of the Tagore promenade. We fought the water with pumps and sandbags,” the fire department wrote on Facebook:
On the South Balaton line, between Szabadisóstó and Siófok, stormy winds blew down trees on the tracks on Thursday, which caused a replacement bus to run instead of trains. The order has now been restored. Mávinform also reported that passengers had to board a replacement bus between Balatonfűzfő and Balatonfüred because a tree fell on the overhead line, Index writes.
