China Southern Airlines will launch a flight between Budapest and Guangzhou, Péter Szijjártó, the minister of foreign affairs and trade, said on Thursday.
Budapest–Guangzhou flight
The flight, expected to launch on 27 June, will operate four times a week, according to a foreign ministry statement.
With a population of around 15 million, Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong province, where big companies with presences in Hungary, such as BYD, Huawei, ZTE, Sunwoda and Eve Energy, have headquarters and manufacturing bases, the statement quoted Szijjártó as saying.
The minister said the number of weekly flights connecting the Hungarian capital with big cities in China would rise to 17, more than in any other country in central Europe.
The development of economic ties between Hungary and China is a “pillar” of the country’s economic growth in future, he added.
