Tourists, attention: BudapestGO app launches innovation to make your trip easier
Thanks to a new development, from 23 April, the block of 10 tickets will be available in the BudapestGO app. The digital tickets can be bought for HUF 4,000 (EUR 10.16), just like paper tickets. In order for the block of tickets to appear in the app, BudapestGO needs to be updated.
New tickets in the BudapestGO app
The Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) is introducing a long-awaited innovation from April, Index reports.
From 23 April, the company sells the block of 10 tickets in the BudapestGO app. Like paper tickets, the product can be purchased for HUF 4,000 (EUR 10.16) and can be used within one year of purchase.
Refunds are only possible if all 10 tickets of the package are unused, BKK said on Tuesday.
How to validate them?
In order to make sure that the block of 10 tickets will appear in BudapestGO app, you must first update it. Once purchased, the digital block of tickets, just like the line tickets, must be validated outside the vehicle door when boarding. These tickets can be validated in several ways:
- Widget feature: the product can be placed on the home screen of your phone, so you don’t even need to enter the app. With the widget function, you can validate tickets with a single click on the code scan button.
- With NFC validation: NFC stickers can be found on ticket validation devices at metro entrances and on the surface of the vehicles, which can be touched to validate in a single step. You will then see a moving image.
- With code scanning: within the app, clicking on the validation button on the ticket of a block of 10 tickets will display the camera code scanning option, followed by a moving icon showing that the ticket is valid.
As BKK writes, only one block of 10 tickets can be purchased at a time in one transaction within the app. However, you can of course buy more group tickets by starting a new purchase transaction. Tickets that have already been validated will be moved to “used” after the 80-minute expiry date.
Nostalgia buses coming
BKK also reported that in addition to the digital block of 10 tickets, the company is offering another novelty to its customers: from the first weekend of May until the end of October, nostalgia services will be operating in the capital, for which it is possible to buy tickets digitally in the BudapestGO app for HUF 500 (EUR 1.27) from 23 April.
The cosy nostalgia services will continue to run with vehicles from the last century, while the nostalgia trams, trolleybuses and buses will operate on a separate schedule, details of which will be announced by BKK soon.
