Budapest Airport noise protection programme continues with new Budapest districts, here’s how to apply
The largest-ever noise protection programme will continue with the inclusion of districts X, XVII and XVIII of Budapest and additional areas of Üllő. The scheme was launched by the Budapest Airport Neighbours Foundation in 2022 involving a total of 4,000 properties.
Budapest Airport’s noise protection programme
The programme, which offers more services than ever before, allows property owners in specific areas to request the retrofitting or replacement of windows in their living and recreational areas, or the installation of ventilation equipment in bedrooms at the Foundation’s expense, Budapest Airport reports.
The initial phase will start on 30 September 2024, after which construction will begin. So far, 1,000 property owners have taken advantage of the first three phases of the programme.
What is the aim of this programme?
The noise protection programme will be implemented in phases over 3 years, with the priority objective of reducing noise exposure for people living near the airport, through the retrofitting or replacement of windows in residential and recreational areas of properties, and the installation of free ventilation equipment in bedrooms.
How to apply?
During June, the Budapest Airport Neighbours Foundation will also send a letter to the owners of residential properties involved in the latest, fourth phase of the programme, informing them about the details of the programme and the application process. Interested parties can also submit their applications by post or electronically. The zajvedelem.bud.hu website will provide more details and answer frequently asked questions.
The deadline for submitting applications is 30 September 2024, with construction work starting in autumn 2024. The scheme is open to all property owners who own a residential property in the designated area and meet the eligibility criteria.
