Tragedy: Young foreigner drowns in Lake Balaton (18+)

A young foreigner drowned in Lake Balaton, near Siófok, on Saturday, the water rescue services told MTI on Sunday.

The youth was with four others on a pedalo before becoming submerged. People on a nearby sailboat phoned for help and a patrol boat was on the scene within minutes. A rescue boat arrived later and divers brought the youth to the surface but were unable to revive the foreigner.

A young person died. Only referring to them as a “foreigner” seems odd. A young foreign person isn’t the same as a Hungarian dying? A Hungarian life is worth more or different I suppose?

It is odd to put it this way( foreigner), but maybe it is just to show that that was a person not familiar with the lake. So it can show how it is potentially dangerous for anyone to be overly confident in unknown waters. My heart goes out to the young persons family. Always, always use some floaters( west, arm thing, etc) when not sure! Please take care of yourselves ❤️
