The MOL Bubi bike-share program is extremely popular in Budapest
People in Budapest used the MOL Bubi bike-share scheme over 10,500 times per day in January-July, the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK), which operates the system with the support of Hungarian oil and gas company MOL, said on Friday.

The MOL Bubi fleet boasts 2,460 bicycles and 211 docking stations.
A recent survey shows that 57 percent of Bubi riders used the bicycles to commute to and from work, while 49 percent used them to do the shopping and 40 percent to go out for entertainment.
Bubi 3.0 is set to launch in 2026 with a doubled fleet size and the addition of e-bikes.

Ten thousand in a city of 1-1/2 million people is not all that much.
It certainly doesn’t justify the enormous cost and disruption the city and its municipalities are visiting upon us with the creation of bicycle tracks, etc. on busy streets. I cannot believe what they’ve been doing on Margit hid for several weeks now: They’re actually grinding down the sidewalk to then paint it red. Imagine the cost and the waste. Shocking.
As far as e-bikes? Yeah, their batteries (cobalt, lithium, nickel, etc.) brought to you courtesy of African children slaves. How very “green.” How very enlightened.
