VIDEO, PHOTOS: Retro-themed hotel to open in Debrecen with a nod to the ‘60s and ‘70s
A new retro-themed hotel is set to open in Debrecen, bringing the nostalgic vibes of the 1960s and 1970s to Hungary’s second-largest city. The hotel, being developed by Dryvit Profi Ltd., will offer 114 rooms, all of which have already been reserved for the next four and a half years, signalling the high demand for this unique accommodation.
Retro hotel to open next year
The project involves converting a former industrial building from the 1950s, once part of the Gördülőcsapágy (Göcs) factory, into a three-star hotel, Dehir.hu reports. The new establishment, located on Kassai Road, is scheduled to open its doors in January 2025. According to Bana László, the managing director of Dryvit Profi Ltd., this transformation is part of a larger effort to meet the growing demand for accommodation in Debrecen, spurred by major developments such as the arrival of BMW’s new plant in the area.
Increased business traffic in Debrecen
In a recent interview with Debrecen Television, Bana explained that the company has been working on various accommodation projects in response to the increased business traffic. Their portfolio includes the Stay Apartment complex, which boasts 184 rooms, and the latest addition, the three-star Stay-Loft on Kassai Road.
“After we learned that the renowned German car manufacturer BMW would be setting up in Debrecen, we decided to focus on building services that the city would need most. Over the years, we have constructed multiple lodging facilities, all of which are fully booked. Our latest three-star hotel has already secured bookings for its 114 rooms for the next four and a half years,” said Bana.
The hotel will reflect the design of the ’60s and ’70s
In keeping with the retro theme, the Stay-Loft will be furnished to reflect the design trends of the 1960s and 1970s, bringing a touch of nostalgia for guests. The vintage décor can be seen in the preview videos, giving a glimpse of what future guests can expect. This new retro-themed hotel is set to add a unique charm to Debrecen’s hospitality scene, providing visitors with a stylish throwback to the past, all while catering to the growing business demand in the city.
Beyond hotel development, Dryvit Profi Ltd. is also actively involved in residential construction, with plans to build 500 homes and apartments, many of which are located in the suburbs surrounding Debrecen.

It looks great, I’d like to stay here, but as mentioned in the article, you can’t. BMW has booked the entire hotel for the next 4.5 years so while the photos are interesting, you might as well be looking at the refurbishment of someone’s private apartment. I shan’t imagine there’ll be much left of the interior decor after half a decade’s worth of guest workers have passed through for it won’t be BMW management from Germany staying here.
