Thousands of illegal migrants apprehended by Hungarian authorities
The Hungarian authorities apprehended almost 16,000 illegal migrants and 132 people smugglers last year, the prime minister’s chief domestic security advisor said on Friday.
Though this figure is lower compared with previous years, it had still posed a serious challenge, György Bakondi told commercial broadcaster TV2.
The number of irregular migrants arriving in Europe along the Balkan route increased in 2024, Bakondi said, adding that thanks to the cooperation between the Hungarian and Serbian police forces, migrant activity shifted towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia during the year.
Meanwhile, he said predictions that problems stemming from illegal migration would continue unless the European Union changed its “ill-advised” migration policy had come true in 2024.

Muslims have not assimilated in western EU. 50% of 2015 migrants into Germany are still supported by public funds. These people do not belong into Hungary. Give them a choice, either they voluntarily return the way they came in or fly them to their home country.
16,000 illegal aliens is a shocking figure. It’s the size of a small town. And they are almost exclusively young, fighting-age men.
Now, here’s the thing. Hungary thwarted these invaders but, as the text says, they and hundreds of thousands of others are invading Europe via Croatia, Slovenia, etc., which they do successfully. They thus wind up in Europe and then the E.U. tries to force Hungary to accept them, even though Hungary had successfully repelled them, and punishes us when we refuse to.

100% no Muslims. Look at the mess they have caused in Germany,Sweden and France. If you want them take them leave Hungary out of it. No means no.
Uneducated criminal illegal aliens belong in Brussels, Germany and Luxembourg but not Hungary. Hungary should not spend a penny supporting them. There are legal ways to enter the country, just visit a Hungarian Embassy. Either these people are too stupid to enter legally or they are up to no good.
Did the EU parliament pay the smugglers’ fees to annoy Hungary?
1) Hungary generally prefers to release people smugglers, rather than keeping them incarcerated. Our Politicians appear to enjoy wallowing in the issue. More is paradoxically better, rile up the masses and @michaelsteiner;
2) the fines and penalties imposed on Hungary are for non-compliance with the EU’s top court, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) judgments. Our Politicians are always keen to point out the importance of the rule of law – and voila.
Remember: we signed up for this – so we are legally bound to submit to the ECJ´s authority, any way you try to twist it.
In summary, the ECJ ruled that Hungary outsourcing asylum applications to its embassies in Belgrade and Kyiv is a breach of EU law. So much for @mariavontheresa´s “legal ways to enter the country”.
