PHOTOS: Hundreds celebrate International Day of Yoga in Budapest with a grand open-air session

The Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre, Embassy of India in Budapest, successfully hosted a grand celebration of the 11th International Day of Yoga on Saturday, 21 June 2025, at the Dr. Koltai Jenő Sportközpont, Hungarian University of Sports Science.
The event was one of the biggest public gatherings of Yoga, attracting the enthusiastic participation of a vibrant and diverse gathering from all walks of Hungary, which comprised yoga enthusiasts, friends of India, members of the Indian community, diplomats, and journalists. The celebration beautifully embodied the spirit of unity, peace, and holistic well-being that yoga represents.
The International Day of Yoga was a huge success
Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of India, Mr. Praveen Kumar, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the celebrations of the International Day of Yoga.


Held at one of Central Europe’s oldest and most prestigious sports universities, the event featured an inspiring yoga session led by yoga experts. Conducted in both English and Hungarian, the session ensured accessibility and inclusivity for all participants, ranging from beginners to seasoned practitioners.
Proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, the International Day of Yoga is observed globally on 21 June to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. This year’s celebration in Budapest marked the culmination of around 30 yoga programs organised across Hungary by the Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre in the lead-up to the main event.
