First new, modern diesel buses hit the streets of Budapest! – PHOTOS

Budapest public transport company BKK announced on Thursday that it has taken delivery of 25 articulated Mercedes Citaro diesel buses.

ArrivaBus will be in charge of the operation and maintenance of the buses that will be used initially on lines 8E and 133E.

Gergely Karácsony, the capital’s mayor, said that over 200 diesel vehicles will be delivered to Budapest, while BKK said that from the end of July until 2027, over 300 new buses will arrive in the capital. “With the new vehicles, by 2027, nearly 90pc of the capital’s bus fleet will be up-to-date EURO 5 or even more modern buses,” Karácsony said.
