Next phase of Debrecen railway development starts

The second phase of a railway development that will benefit an economic zone in Debrecen (Eastern Hungary) has started, the Construction and Transportation Ministry said on Monday.

The project, supported with HUF 38bn in European Union funding, will upgrade the rail line between Debrecen and Balmazújváros, to the northwest of the city, raising train speeds to 100km/h and adding complimentary infrastructure.

The project is set to wind up in May 2026.
