Hungarian opposition Momentum party elects new chairman

András Rózsa has been elected chairman of Momentum Movement by the assembly of the party’s deputies for the period leading up to the 2026 elections, the opposition party told MTI on Sunday.
Momentum has been working for eight years “to have Fidesz, which has ruined the country, removed from power,” and will continue fighting for this goal in the next six months, Rózsa was quoted as saying in a statement.
The party took the first step towards this goal in June when it declared it was not running in the election in order to avoid splitting the opposition vote, he added. Rózsa emphasised, however, that they were not going to sit back, but would mobilise all their strength to achieve a change of government.
