Good news: direct flight from Budapest to Canada has been announced!

A new direct flight from Budapest to Canada has been confirmed, as Air Canada officially announced another Budapest–America direct service, following American Airlines’ August announcement.
The new service will connect Budapest and Toronto with four weekly flights starting in 2026. Passengers will be able to choose from three travel classes aboard Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, and the airline says demand for the new route is already high.
Another direct flight from Budapest to Canada from next June
According to a statement released on bud.hu, the Budapest–Toronto route had previously been “extremely popular” and will now return between 6 June and 24 October. “The new air link will contribute to increasing Hungary’s transatlantic premium passenger traffic, while offering passengers excellent onward connections to numerous destinations across the Americas,” the statement added.

The launch of the new direct flight from Budapest to Canada follows nearly a year of preparation. The service will run four times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays—between the Hungarian capital and the Canadian metropolis. Rather than the previously speculated narrow-body, and often considered less comfortable, Airbus A321XLR aircraft, the airline will deploy wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. These will offer Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy seating, appealing to both business and leisure travellers.

Convenient midday departure time
The service will operate from 6 June to 24 October 2026, connecting Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport with Toronto Pearson International Airport. The modern, world-class aircraft, each with 298 seats, will depart Budapest at 13:15 local time and arrive in Toronto at 15:15.
The return leg will depart Toronto at 21:55 and land in Budapest at 11:25 the following day. For the summer season, Air Canada is offering 47,680 seats between the two cities, providing seamless connections via Toronto to other parts of Canada, major cities across North America, and even exotic destinations such as the Caribbean, Hawaii and several South American countries.

The 2nd direct route
“With the launch of the Air Canada Budapest–Toronto route, we’re now announcing our second direct destination in North America this summer, which clearly signals the success of our route development efforts. With Budapest returning to the map of major North American airlines through two new connections this year, we’re fuelling already strong interest in the Hungarian capital among transatlantic travellers,” emphasised François Berisot, CEO of Budapest Airport.

“The announcement of another transatlantic route is a significant result of Visit Hungary’s overseas marketing efforts, which played a key role in generating demand for this new link. The non-stop Budapest–Toronto route could further boost leisure traffic and business tourism to our capital from one of our highest-spending source markets,” added Csendes Olivér, CEO of VH.

Travelling to Canada will be easier and more comfortable
The new new direct flight from Budapest to Canada is expected to generate significant interest once again, as it meets an already high demand: around 90,000 air passengers currently travel annually between the two countries. The new new direct flight from Budapest to Canada provides a simple, convenient and fast alternative to connecting services, which is likely to further stimulate demand among holidaymakers (including the highly popular river cruise guests departing from Budapest), those visiting friends and relatives, business travellers, and the MICE segment (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions).
