Drama on Wizz Air flight: every minute counted for Russian passenger’s life

Dramatic scenes unfolded days ago on the early morning Wizz Air flight from Yerevan to Budapest. The plane was already on the runway, preparing for takeoff, when a Russian woman suddenly became ill and lost consciousness. Airport doctors managed to revive her with an injection, but the captain, citing safety reasons, refused to let her continue the journey. The decision led to a heated argument and a police intervention, while the other passengers were forced to wait over an hour before the flight finally departed for Budapest.

“Her body is cold, getting colder” – the woman did not respond for minutes

According to Bors, a fellow passenger noticed that the woman was breathing heavily and then suddenly fainted. The flight attendants immediately checked her pulse and breathing and tried to wake her, but she did not respond. A Hungarian family on board recalled someone saying chillingly: “Her body is cold, getting colder.”

The captain halted the takeoff and asked over the loudspeaker if there was a doctor on board, but no one responded. Within minutes, an airport medical team boarded the aircraft, and a doctor administered an injection that brought the woman back to consciousness. With the help of an interpreter, she explained that she had no known medical conditions and had simply been extremely anxious about the flight.

Heated protest and police escort

The captain then informed the passenger that she could not remain on board for safety reasons. The woman protested angrily and began to cry: “I saved up so much to travel to Budapest – I’m not getting off!” However, the pilot stood firm, and the airport security service, together with the police, eventually escorted the woman off the plane.

Due to the incident, the flight departed for Budapest with a delay of an hour and a half. Several passengers described the situation as frightening and outrageous.

The Warsaw incident

This was not the only Wizz Air incident in recent days. As Portfolio reported, citing the Polish outlet RMF FM, on 30 September, a Wizz Air flight from Warsaw to Barcelona was forced to return to Warsaw’s Chopin Airport shortly after takeoff. The 5:35 AM flight carried more than 150 passengers, and an emergency was declared at the airport—though at the lowest, “local alert” level. The aircraft landed safely, and according to the Polish report, the emergency was caused by a bird strike. Eventually, the plane departed for Barcelona with a six-hour delay.
