Hungarian Museum of Applied Arts joins international Art Nouveau network

From 2016, Budapest is represented by The Museum of Applied Arts in the Réseau Art Nouveau Network (RANN), magyarmuzeumok.hu reports.

The network of Art Nouveau cities was founded in 1999, and has more than 20 members from all over Europe, such as Vienna, Brussels, Darmstadt, Glasgow, Helsinki, Oradea, Nancy, Palermo and Riga, as well as a non-European member, Havana.

The organisation’s headquarters are in Brussels, and since 2014, it belongs to the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. All its members are cities of significant Art Nouveau heritage, where the research and preservation of the art style enjoys considerable importance. The cities are represented by different institutions; museums, universities, institutions funded by the city collaborate to realise professional and scientific as well as cultural and touristic aims.

This rich and many-faceted artistic heritage of the Art Nouveau movement is represented in great numbers in each member city. The RANN participates in European projects, during which workshops, conferences, travelling exhibitions are organised and publications are issued to help spread information on Art Nouveau among the general public.
