New 24/7 currency exchange machine unveiled in downtown Budapest!

The Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) and Interchange Group have introduced another digital innovation to enhance services in the capital: a modern, self-service currency exchange machine is now available in City Hall Park, at the Budapest Card Centre. The practical XTM device allows users — both tourists and locals — to exchange up to twenty different currencies into forints, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Fast, safe and convenient currency exchange in the city centre

Located just steps from Deák Ferenc Square, one of Budapest’s busiest transport hubs, the new machine offers a remarkably convenient way to exchange money, BKK announced. The fully self-service device features a user-friendly interface and complies with all relevant international data protection and anti-money-laundering standards.

BKK aims to further improve customer experience through similar digital upgrades, contributing to a more modern and environmentally friendly Budapest. The cooperation between BKK and Interchange dates back more than thirty years, and this latest development marks another step in expanding the services available to residents and visitors.

Budapest Card and additional services in one place

The Budapest Card Centre in City Hall Park offers more than currency exchange. Visitors can also purchase the Budapest Card, which provides free or discounted entry to a wide range of tourist attractions and includes unlimited use of the city’s public transport network.

With its growing range of integrated services, the centre is becoming increasingly important for both tourists and locals.

Environmentally friendly buses also entering service

Alongside the installation of the new exchange machine, it was also announced that brand-new MAN Lion’s City 12C buses will gradually enter service across the capital. These vehicles are not only comfortable and fully accessible but also meet the Euro VIe emissions standard — one of the European Union’s strictest environmental regulations. Their modern design ensures lower emissions and reduced noise levels, delivering a noticeable improvement to urban transport.

Corvinus University and BKK sign cooperation agreement

The newly signed partnership aims to combine Corvinus University’s academic expertise with BKK’s experience in sustainable urban development to strengthen education and research in Hungary.

The agreement was concluded on 21 November at the Corvinus Gellért Campus by Bruno van Pottelsberghe, Rector of Corvinus University, and Dávid Baranyai, Head of Corporate and Institutional Relations. BKK was represented by Andrea Sághy, Director of Human Resources, and András Bannert, Director of Operational Support and Development.

Under the cooperation, BKK representatives may join Corvinus courses as guest lecturers, while students will be able to choose BKK as a partner for their mandatory internships. BKK will also participate in the university’s job fairs. The two institutions will hold regular knowledge-sharing consultations, and BKK will provide data for academic research and publications in compliance with data protection and confidentiality rules. The partnership also enables the launch of specialised leadership training programmes (“executive education”).
