Weather in Hungary: Brace for deep freeze as daily routines continue

Hungary is set to face a sharp return to winter conditions next week, just as daily routines resume after the holiday period. With schools, nurseries and workplaces reopening on Monday, commuters and families alike will have to contend with biting cold and wintry weather across much of the country.
Weather won’t play nice in the following days

According to the latest forecast from HungaroMet, minimum temperatures early next week are expected to fall between –10°C and –6°C in most areas, while daytime highs are likely to remain subdued, hovering between –2°C and +2°C. In clearer northern regions, temperatures could drop even lower overnight, while areas close to the southern border may experience slightly milder conditions.
Precipitation will also vary by region. Snowfall is most likely in southern parts of the country, while eastern Hungary could see freezing rain, raising concerns about icy roads and pavements during the morning and evening rush hours. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to black ice.
