Late-night airport trips just got easier: Budapest adds smarter evening connections to airport bus

Budapest’s public transport operator, BKK, is upgrading its airport bus service following passenger feedback, making late-night journeys from Liszt Ferenc International Airport (Budapest Airport) smoother and more convenient. From 1 February, the evening timetable of the popular 200E airport bus will change on days when the metro runs with reduced operating hours.
The key improvement: the final three buses of the night will now stop directly at the Kőbánya-Kispest M bus station, making transfers to other late-night routes significantly easier, BKK reports.
Direct access to night buses without long walks
Currently, passengers travelling towards Határ Road can board or alight near the P+R car park at the Regina köz stop at the Kőbánya-Kispest transport hub. However, this often requires extra walking, which is especially inconvenient late at night.
Under the new system, from Sunday to Thursday (when Metro Line M3 operates only until midnight), the last three 200E services departing the airport at 23:28, 23:38 and 23:48 will enter the bus terminal directly.
This means arriving passengers can transfer to connecting evening and night buses towards the city centre or outer districts without crossing the overpass or walking longer distances. The change is expected to make late-night travel more comfortable, safer and more predictable.

Passenger-driven development
BKK emphasised that the update was introduced in response to constructive passenger suggestions. The transport authority says it is committed to aligning Budapest’s public transport services more closely with real travel needs, particularly for airport connections, where reliable transfers are crucial.
The modification to the 200E line is part of these ongoing improvements.
Plan ahead with BudapestGO
Travellers are encouraged to use the BudapestGO app to plan their journeys. The application offers real-time service information, suggests optimal routes and also allows users to purchase tickets and passes directly within the app.
With the new changes in place, getting home from a late flight should now be quicker and far less stressful.
