Dramatic footage shows police rescuing passengers trapped in car as train bears down

A motorist skidded off the road between Isaszeg and Pécel, coming to rest stranded on the railway tracks.
The Pest County Police Department has released harrowing footage on Facebook capturing the moment a car became lodged on the line between Isaszeg and Pécel in the early hours of the morning, when visibility was poor. With a train bearing down on the crossing, officers from the Gödöllő police station rushed to the scene. They helped the driver and any passengers evacuate the vehicle just in time.
Mercifully, everyone escaped unharmed, though the empty freight train ploughed into the car regardless. The clip shows the driver clutching his head at the moment of impact. Fortunately, he was left to lament only the wreckage of his vehicle, not any loss of life.

No one was injured, but the incident was averted by a hair’s breadth. Police have asked motorists to remain vigilant, obey all traffic rules and drive safely, to ensure everyone gets home in one piece.
