New Wizz Air summer route to seashore gem from Budapest

Hungary’s Wizz Air is launching another seaside escape from Budapest this summer.

AIRportal.hu, the Hungarian travel news outlet, reports that the low-cost carrier will operate flights from Budapest to Zadar (known in Hungarian as Zára) from 9 June. This charming Adriatic town, once part of the Kingdom of Hungary from the 12th century until 1918, beckons with its historic allure.

Services will run four times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays aboard Airbus A321neo aircraft, from 9 June to 19 September—the heart of the tourist season. Fares start at HUF 11,900 (GBP 25 or EUR 31.50).

Wizz Air faces stiff rivalry from Ryanair, which will also ply the route three times a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays) over the same period. Such competition promises a boon for holidaymakers, who can pit the airlines against one another for the best deals.

The carrier revealed its Dubrovnik route in January, with thrice-weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays). Ryanair serves that destination too.
