President Trump can thank a Hungarian model for meeting his wife, Melania
President Trump met Melania Knavs thanks to her Hungarian friend, Edit Molnár, who persuaded the future First Lady to attend an event at which the American businessman—and later President—also took part.

Blikk, a Hungarian tabloid, recently interviewed Paolo Zampolli, a close friend of Donald Trump, about the famous event where Trump and Melania first met. Zampolli has been in Trump’s inner circle for 30 years and was in Budapest this weekend on an official business visit as Trump’s special envoy for global partnerships.
In response to the media outlet’s question, Zampolli revealed that his first love, Edit Molnár—a woman from Buda—was a close friend of Melania Knavs 30 years ago. Both worked for his agency; they went to the gym, swimming or cinema together. The agency then organised an event where Melania initially did not want to participate, but Edit persuaded her. That is where Zampolli introduced them to each other.
Two weeks later, they appeared together at a Roberto Cavalli dinner. So Zampolli simply watched events unfold. Donald Trump has moved into the White House twice since then, and “I attended their wedding as well,” he added.

Zampolli also discussed the Trump–Orbán friendship, saying the American president truly wants to work with the Hungarian prime minister as they share the same values. He added that loyalty is one of the most important values for Trump, who is also very loyal to those who stand by him.
Zampolli was born in 1970 in Milan. The Italian-American businessman moved to the USA in the 1990s, managed ID Model Management, and later founded a property agency. In 2020, Trump appointed him to the board of trustees of the Kennedy Center. In the second Trump administration, Zampolli became his special envoy for global partnerships, representing US interests around the globe.
