Popular flight relaunches to Germany from Hungarian city on Monday!

Change language:
A new chapter in regional air travel begins on 30 March as flights between Pécs and Munich resume, offering fresh opportunities to travel to Germany for both business and tourism.
Lufthansa-backed service will take you to Germany
The twice-weekly service, operating on Mondays and Thursdays from Pécs-Pogány Airport, marks a significant step in improving southern Hungary’s international connectivity. The route is operated by Danish Air Transport on behalf of Lufthansa, using modern 72-seat ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft. With a flight time of around 90 minutes, passengers can expect a swift and comfortable journey between the two cities.

It’s not a publicly funded initiative
The relaunch has been made possible through a EUR 200,000 investment, notably financed by business partners rather than public funds, as per the mayor of Pécs. Local stakeholders, including multinational companies, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pécs-Baranya, and the University of Pécs, played a key role in supporting the project. City leaders emphasise that this collaborative approach was essential, particularly amid tighter government budgets. The agreement, approved in February, ensures the service will operate under a four-year partnership, writes Pécsma.
In case you missed it, you can now get your tickets to Wizz Air’s newest flight to Türkiye from Hungary.
A gateway to global destinations
Munich Airport serves as a major European hub, offering onward connections to Western Europe, North America and Asia. Thanks to Lufthansa’s network, travellers from Pécs can book single tickets to destinations worldwide, with transfer times in Munich as short as 40 minutes. This enhanced accessibility is expected to strengthen ties with southern Germany, one of Pécs’ most important economic and academic partners.
Tourism and growth prospects
Local tourism professionals are already exploring how the new route could attract more visitors from Germany to the Baranya region. At the same time, improved transport links may support investment and business travel. Tickets are available from EUR 99 (HUF 38,500), making the service an appealing option for both leisure and corporate passengers.
