Celebrating everyday heroes at this year’s Night of the Museums
Everyday heroes, inventors, and pioneers will be in the centre of attention at this year’s Night of the Museums on June 25. The annual celebration of museums and culture offers more than 80 thematic programmes by some two dozen museums in Budapest, inforadio.hu reports.
The Hungarian Natural History Museum celebrates the unsung heroes “responsible” for the exhibitions of the museum. The Budapest City Archives will show its visitors what goes on behind the scenes, and the otherwise restricted parts of the archives will be open to the public as well.
The Hungarian National Museum hosts programmes about superheroes, fairy-tale and cartoon heroes, while the Petőfi Literary Museum joins the theme with a ‘hero training’ programme.
The Hungarian Electronic Museum celebrates inventors and inventions in connection with electricity, and the subjects like the Hungarian railway electrification will be the topics of an unusual physics lesson.
The Eötvös Loránd University Library, the Astoria Hotel, the Center of Scientific Wonders, the Museum of Applied Arts, the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts, and the Nagytétény Castle also offer many colourful programmes.
Visitors can choose from a variety of programmes hosted by cultural-, art-, and educational institutions, libraries, museums, archives, and cultural heritage sites all over the country.
