Russian drones hit Hungarian-populated Ukrainian region, Transcarpathia; at least one injured

Russian drones hit multiple villages in Transcarpathia, Ukraine’s westernmost region, where more than 70,000 Hungarians live. The Hungarian community there is indigenous, living on their ancestors’ land for more than 1,000 years. The Russian attack has left at least one person injured.
Russian drone attack against Transcarpathia
According to 444.hu, the Russian military targeted an electric substation near the village of Majdánka (Majdan). As a result, there is no electricity in multiple villages in the region. Ukrainian authorities have not yet shared details about the damage, but they have warned locals of an extended electricity outage.
Furthermore, another electric substation was hit near Lipcse (Lypcha) in the Khust subregion. Parts of the settlement are without electricity, but authorities have not yet shared details of the damage. Reportedly, there is no information about Hungarians living in Majdánka, but they do live in Lipcse, based on Wikipedia.
Another hit was reported from Perecseny (Perechyn), a small town in Transcarpathia, north of Ungvár (Uzhhorod). The town also has a very small Hungarian community. The result was an electricity outage in the region. Another drone was shot down by the Ukrainian army above Ökörmező (Mizhhiria), where 6 Hungarians lived in 2001. The device crashed in the mountains and caused no damage.
The attack was carried out with Iranian Shahed drones, Szeretlek Magyarország wrote.
According to the Transcarpathian regional military headquarters, one person was injured in the unexpected attack.
Neither FM Péter Szijjártó nor PM Viktor Orbán has yet reacted to the attacks. Previously, they also remained silent in August 2025 when a Russian missile hit an American-owned factory in Munkács (Mukachevo), leaving 12–19 people injured.

Orban and Szijjarto would not do anything if a Russian drone killed ethnic Hungarians in Ukraine. They will continue to do Russia’s bidding no matter what. They don’t care about anyone except themselves and the lining of their pockets with money. In a perfect world that drone would have kept flying west until it landed on Orban’s head.
