Péter Magyar appoints Tisza Party’s Deputy Prime Minister: you might already know them!

Tisza Party leader Péter Magyar has announced that Orbán Anita will serve as both foreign minister and deputy prime minister in the prospective Tisza government.

According to Magyar, the deputy prime minister will fully represent the prime minister in the event of absence, including at cabinet meetings and official engagements. The appointment places Orbán at the centre of both Hungary’s foreign policy and internal government coordination, writes Telex.

Anita Orbán confirmed she is preparing for a busy weekend, as she travels to Brussels alongside key economic figures in the proposed cabinet. The delegation is expected to hold talks with European Commission leaders regarding the release of EU funds earmarked for Hungary.

She will be joined by finance minister-designate András Kármán, economy and energy minister-designate István Kapitány, and legal expert Márton Melléthei-Barna. Securing access to EU funding is seen as a priority issue for the incoming government.

She is an experienced economist and diplomat

Born in 1974, Anita Orbán is widely regarded as an influential figure in Hungarian business and policy circles. An economist by training, she previously held a senior role in global government relations at Vodafone.

Earlier in her career, she worked in the telecommunications sector before pursuing advanced studies in the United States, earning degrees in history and diplomacy and later a doctorate.

She also served in Hungary’s foreign ministry between 2010 and 2015, focusing on energy security and regional cooperation. In their first 100 days in charge, she claimed her most important task will be dealing with Slovakia’s anti-Hungarian law.
