Budapest’s tender for the Olympics has been received positively
24.hu reports that, on Thursday night, the International Olympic Committee shared the first evaluation of the tenders made to win the opportunity of holding the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
After listening to the evaluating committee’s report the IOC published their first evaluation of the tenders submitted by the four candidate cities: Budapest, Rome, Paris and Los Angeles. Each of the cities will receive an individual feedback during next week.
According to Mark Adams, spokesperson for IOC, no significant issues were found in the files. Balázs Fürjes, leader of Budapest’s candidacy highlighted that the Hungarian capital city is excellently suitable for holding the Olympics. Thus, Budapest keeps on competing as a strong candidate.
Fürjes also said that this is the common success of Budapest and Hungary; they have passed the first round, however, there is still a lot to do. From Thursday on millions in the world will know that Budapest is the equal rival of Paris, Rome and Los Angeles.
The next round will be in October, when the candidates have to submit the second order of materials and documents. The final decision on the location of the 2024 Olympics will be made by the IOC in September, next year, in Lima.
